Welcome to my new blog!
My name is Darian, but people call me Dash. I’m a 36 year old marketer, entrepreneur and personal development enthusiast from Melbourne, Australia who through my own personal journey of entrepreneurism, business/investing and fitness started to see the commonalities of self-development and personal growth mindsets for success across all of these areas.
I made the decision to start this blog with the intention of documenting my findings and the lessons i’ve learnt with the aim of distilling out the key mindsets and strategies for massive success in all areas of life, in the hope that this helps someone else out of the darkness they might temporarily stuck in.
My personal journey started over 5 years ago. I was 17kgs heavier (as seen here), less than half as happy and getting up every day to go to a job for 8+ hours a day that I didn’t enjoy, only to come back to a relationship that ultimately wasn’t leaving me fulfilled or excited about the future, I was living pay cheque to pay cheque and had all but given up on the idea that I’d ever really be in control of my life leaving my fate in the hands of what “society” told me was “right”.
Sounds horrible right?
I couldn’t figure out why I felt like my life sucked so much either.
I’d done ALL the things I was told to.
Finish uni, get a job, settled down, mortgaged myself to the eyeballs to buy a house and plan for that one day when it’ll all be great. But that plan really wasn’t working out and every day I felt more detached and like I had no control over where my life was heading.
Well luckily, things got so bad that eventually my girlfriend dumped me.
This sent me down the rabbit hole of self development, looking critically at a number of areas of my life that I felt were lacking the success I felt I was capable of – mainly women, wealth, life and spirituality. I started reading book after book and travelling the world to meet with experts, coaches and mentors as I set about on my mission to “fix myself” and make up for lost time working on various areas of my life.
After countless books, seminars, video courses and live workshops I felt like I was starting to get it. Ultimately realising there was nothing to fix and that the journey of personal development and success is as much about learning new useful skills as it is about un-learning unhelpful belief structures and models.
As I became happier, almost magically more opportunities presented themselves. I became more empathetic, a better communicator, more creative and more resilient to discomfort slowly shifting my focus from short term priorities like that next burger or impulse purchase to make me “feel good”, to pursuing larger and more ambitious goals along my path.
As I learnt more about how we construct our ego and identity I started to notice these shifts in my priorities, perspective and in how people around me behaved starting me on a positive upward spiral which gave me even more motivation to keep working on myself and to keep developing.
With the momentum generated from this positive upward spiral, towards the end of 2015 I began work on a business start up idea very close to my passions around sneaker collecting and travel called White Wolf Industries and at the time of writing this blog post, we’re about 6 weeks out from launching our first major product – the Carbon Wolfpack.
The journey of building this particular start up from scratch (after some failures to launch on previous projects) has taught me more than all the books and seminars ever could as I came to terms with my own identity, ego and deeply in-grained belief structures which I will use as the basis for the ideas I’m looking to discuss across this blog.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, I hope the words, videos and audio found across these pages offer you all the inspiration, education and motivation you’re looking for in order to realise that success in what ever area of life you desire, is an endeavour worth your focus and time.
I can’t promise that it will be easy, but I can promise you it will be worth it.
